During a semester at ENSCI Les Ateliers Paris where they were supervised by J.F Dingjian (Normal Studio), Pierre Alexandre Cesbron (ENSCI Les Ateliers) and Matthieu Muller (Design Academy Eindhoven + currently Royal College of Art) elaborated a collection of storage furniture called LIGA. After this rich collaboration, the duo became studio and now work in the same mindset to create simple, poetic and functional objects, playing with the right twist.
The duo-studio has been founded during Summer 2017 and now work between Paris and London. Thanks to their recent international visibility LIGA STUDIO were invited to take part in the London Design Fair 2017 for their very first exhibition and launch their studio on the international stage.
The studio won multiple awards during the year 2018 such as 1st Special Mention at Pure Talent Contest Imm Cologne, Core77 Awards 2018 Furniture & Lighting, Ein&Zwanzig Contest by German Design Council in Milan, Finalist RADO Star Prize France 2018 and have been invited to prestigious exhibitions such as Kazerne Eindhoven, Now LE OFF Paris, Selected Design Monat Graz, Talents Ambiente Frankfurt, Property Furniture NYC Design Week exhibiting with Maurizio Cattelan.
Matthieu and Pierre-Alexandre didn’t want to stop there and beside their respective studies continues to work on new editions objects under the name of LIGA STUDIO.
From their latest fascination around mechanical connections and functional principles is born the TENSION Collection, a series of object build on the tension of an elastic band used as simple connector. The collection will be released during Dutch Design Week 2018, part of the Design Academy Graduation Show at De Campina Eindhoven.
